BabyBumble Yeti Pillow – Free Pattern

BabyBumble Yeti Pillow

BabyBumbleYetipattern

BabyBumble was inspired by the lack of being able to hunt down a SquishMellow pillow and my deep desire to want to make something cuddly out of Lion Brands Go for Faux Yarn.

I’m not a fan of online shopping and despite the store hopping to store hopping I could not find a squishmellow pillow to save my life. Go for Faux was the perfect yarn to make one. It’s soft n fluffy and the density of this yarn made it perfect to stuff.

This is a simple “in the round” pattern that uses Increase Stitches and Decrease Stitches. The degree of squishy depends on brand of stuffing and how much you stuff him. I used Poly-Fil Ultra Plush.. Which I found at Walmart

Hope you have as much fun making this little guy as I did.

What you will need…

2 Skeins  Lion Brands … Go For Faux   Blue Bengal

10mm Hook

Stitch Marker, Tapestry Needle, Scissors

Stitch Abbreviations

SC – Single Crochet

SS – Slip Stitch

2TOG – 2 stitches together decrease

Notes..

A Number behind a Stitch abbreviation means .. Do that many stitches of that type across

A Number In-front of a stitch abbreviation means… Do that many of that type of stitch in ONE stitch.

2TOG Is when you crochet 2 stitches together making 1 stitch.. there is 2 ways to do this. Invisable – where you only go thru the front loop of the 2 stitches and Normal where you go threw the whole stitch of 2 stitches. Because of the density of this yarn and the finding of the stitches can be alittle difficult I chose to do the normal.. Example on How To .. HERE  by New Stitch a Day

You will use a stitch marker in the first stitch you make as you do rounds to keep track of each round.

Leaving a long tail to sew top shut.. Finish off

Before sewing the top shut you need to add the hair tuft. To do so cut 4 – 3inch pieces from remainder of skein, Fold a 3 inch piece in half ( so there is a loop at bottom) Use crochet hook to pull the loop partially threw one of the stitches on top of his head. Feed the ends threw the loop and pull tight. *** this is same as how you would add a fringe***

After you have placed the “tufts” evenly around the top stitches… Sew your end threw each stitch with your tapestry needle…. This creates a cinch… Slowly and carefully pull the end to close the top. ** NOTE** if you pull too hard the yarn can snap

Tie off, you do not need to hide the end, you can make it part of his Tuft. Now cut his tuft to your desired length. I made sure to cut each one a different length to give him “wild” tuft lol
