Lion Brand Landscapes Yarn
It’s a well know fact that Lion Brand is my Favorite brand. My family has used Lion Brand for Decades and it was the brand I was introduced too when I was first taught Knitting & Crochet. The Fact it is a long time company from the “homeland” might have a little to do with it. ๐ Mostly it is because I have never been disappointed in their products. When ever I get a chance I’m always trying their new yarns.
I found Landscapes over a year ago when I was out on a shopping trip looking for something “different” for a project for my sister’s birthday. When I saw the thick & fluffy yarn I knew it was what I needed. I ended up making a slouch beanie and some fingerless gloves for her. As I worked with it I knew this was going to be another staple yarn that needed a place in my yarn stash cubby.
Winter came and went, in the mean time I started WulfiesEssentials and was preoccupied… Now with Fall and winter upon us… I broke out my stash of Landscapes yarn and brewed up the……
I love Scarves but I hate how the winds always find a way down the front of my jacket, or even down the back collar. This inspired the Bandana Scarf. It’s not a Triangle Shawl yet it is not just a Scarf. By adding a small triangle that goes from shoulder to shoulder I can easily have that portion under my jacket in the back or brought forward to cover my chest. ๐ย I loved how it turned out and will work up a Pattern for this.
But on to the important part… the yarn!!! Landscapes is thick, fluffy and appears to be a “heavy” looking yarn. It is in no way heavy. It is actually on the lighter side which made the triangle part look great.
I’m not partial to the heavy yarns. I want the look but not the actual weighted down feel of heavy yarns. Landscapes gave me that flow i needed for this project.
Here you can see the crisp detail the yarn gave me. Look at that texture ๐ Love it!! The Color I used was Sand Dune. The colors worked up beautifully in this scarf. I didn’t even try to blend or adjust my rows. I just sat down and went to town lol You can even see some of the “fluffy” appearance this yarn gives.
Here’s the break down of this yarn
Even though this is 100% Acrylic.. Its look gives off a wool type look.
It’s super soft, Not a heavy yarn, I would say light medium. Label says 4- medium.
Colors are smooth variegated. Though Lion Brand does have solids of landscapes.
Crochet hook recommended… 6.5mm — Knitting Needle 6.0mm
Color Selection online..( Not sure about stores near you..) are to die for ๐ there’s are 15 variegate colors and 17 solids
Washing & Drying.. Label recommends… Normal Washer and Lay Flat to dry. I however, even though this is acrylic yarn, always recommend if you have to machine wash.. cool water on gentle – lay flat to dry. For best outcome I highly recommend hand washing, cool water and lay flat to dry ๐
I found my Landscapes at Hobby Lobby. You can check Joanns & Micheals or Go directly to Lion Brand online… Who Doesn’t love to get a box of goodies delivered to their door??? lol
Til Next Time… Take Care and Have a Wonderful Week ๐
