What You Will Need…

1, skein Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn ( 65m/72yds/100g/3.5oz) Super Bulky color of your choice. I used Baby Blue.

1 skein or scrap yarn to make Beak & Feet. I used Red Heart Yarn Super Saver Bright yellow.. Med(4) weight. Does not take much yarn to make.

8mm Hook for Body

6mm Hook for Wings

4mm Hook for feet & Beak

Scissors

Stuffing

Tapestry Needle

Stitch Marker

Stitch Abbreviations…

M.C – Magic Circle

SC – Single Crochet,   DC- Double Crochet

INC – Increase

DEC – Decrease

SL-ST – Slip Stitch

Pattern Notes…

This Pattern is Done in the Round. Continuous rows.

( number).. Is number of stitches you should have at end of row

Stitch Marker is placed in the First Stitch of every round.

There is NO chain 1 at Turn, Unless specified

Decrease’s are done using Invisible Dec. Please Click on Link If you are not familiar with this technique.   Boys & Bunting is who I learned this neat little secret from 😉

BE WARNED!!! When Pulling yarn tight to Close your Circle do so gently. I would recommend pulling closed as you go sewing it shut. Blanket yarn CAN Not handle major stress and your tail will Snap on you. This has happened to me in the past and has been very Frustrating. IF your yarn snaps on you just undo sewing, frog a row, add new yarn string, redo frogged row and attempt again.

PATTERN…

Remember to Place Stitch Marker in First Stitch of Each Row.

Using the Bernat Baby Yarn…

MC

SC 8 into MC

Row 1 INC in Each Stitch Around (16)

Row 2 * SC first stitch, INC next* Repeat *-* around (24)

Row 3 * SC next 2 stitches, INC next* Repeat *-* around (32)

Row 4 * SC next 3 stitches, INC Next* Repeat *-* around (40)

Row 5   * SC next 4 stitches, INC Next* Repeat *-* around (48)

Row 6   * SC next 5 stitches, INC Next* Repeat *-* around (56)

Row 20 SC Around (32)

Row 21 * SC next 2 stitches, DEC Next* Repeat *-* around (24)

Row 22 SC Around (24)

Now Place Eyes 7 rows down from where you stopped. And Have Eyes 6 Stitches apart.

Lightly Stuff, Do Not Over Fill at this point as it will make finishing remaining stitch difficult

*As you can see I have left a gap near the top.*

Row 23 * SC next stitch, DEC Next* Repeat *-* around (16)

Finish Off Leaving a Long Tail for sewing Closed.

Now your going to sew him closed. Your going to work the tail threw each stitch remaining… in the Front Loop only.

After Sewing threw first 8 front loops, gently start to pull the hole closed but not too much to where you can not see the remaining stitches to close. * Remember the yarn Will Break if you pull too hard*.

Finish sewing threw remaining stitches, Stuff a little more to fill the gap that you had left. Then gently Pull the hole closed the remainder of the way.

This will give you a seamless, neat and tidy look.

With the needle still on the tail, take the needle and insert it into the center of the now closed circle. Wiggle the needle down and out the side of your Duckie. Pulling taunt, cut the string as close to the hole you brought it out as you can without cutting the Duckie and the end will disappear back into the Duckie.

Place to side..

Now to sew on parts…

If your ends are not long enough, grab some extra scrap yarn for sewing.

For Wing… use Bernat Yarn if your tails are too short…

You are going to place them, 1 row lower than the row you placed your eyes and then count 5 stitches back from the eyes, giving you approx. location for wings on side of body.

For Beak.. Use Scraps or Red Heart if tails are too short…

You are going to sew the beak on 3 rows below eyes, centered between eyes.

For Feet.. Using Scraps or Red Heart if Tails are too short

Sew Feet Approximately 8 rows below eyes, and centered right below eyes.

TAA DAAA You Now Have a Squishy Lovable Snuggle Buddie Poof 🙂
